Common Questions
What’s the difference between Rear Screen and DAS?
Rear Screen runs on the small display connected directly to your till — customers see it while you process their order. DAS runs on a standalone TV or monitor mounted above the counter, used as a digital menu board. They are configured separately.
Can I use both at the same time?
Yes. Rear Screen and DAS operate independently and can both be active at the same venue simultaneously.
Does an ad go live as soon as I create it?
For Rear Screen, yes — ads are active by default once saved. For DAS, an ad only displays if it is included in a schedule that is assigned to a device.
How long before my changes appear on screen?
Rear Screen checks for schedule updates every ~30 seconds. To apply changes immediately, log into the till to force a refresh. DAS updates are applied the next time the device syncs.
Can I show different content at different locations?
Yes. Rear Screen ads can be assigned to specific venue locations. DAS schedules can be assigned to individual devices at different sites.
Can I assign the same DAS schedule to multiple devices?
Yes — one schedule can be assigned to any number of devices. This is the standard approach for rolling out the same content across multiple locations simultaneously.
Can one DAS device have multiple schedules assigned?
Yes — a device can have multiple schedules, each activating according to its own time rules. Avoid creating overlapping schedules on the same device unless intentional, as the display behaviour during conflicts may be unpredictable.
Do DAS ads need to be in a schedule to display?
Yes. A DAS ad only displays if it is included in a schedule and that schedule is assigned to a device. An ad set to “On” but not added to any schedule will not appear on any screen.
What happens if a DAS schedule has no time restriction enabled?
The schedule runs all day on its selected days of the week. If no date range is enabled either, it runs indefinitely.
Can I reuse seasonal ads from previous years?
Yes — use Deactivate instead of Delete. Deactivated ads remain in the system with all their original settings intact and can be reactivated when the season returns.
Next Steps
Once your screens are set up:
- Plan your ad calendar — set Start and End dates on all campaigns so they go live and expire automatically
- Coordinate with your offers — match Rear Screen ad timing to when your Paimnt offers are active so customers see the deal on screen at the right moment
- Use DAS for seasonal menus — create separate schedules for summer and winter menus; switch between them by updating dates, not content
- Review monthly — audit active ads and remove anything outdated
