Digital Advert Screen (DAS)
DAS lets you run digital menu boards and advertising screens on TVs or monitors mounted above the counter. This guide is for venue managers setting up or managing DAS devices and content in Paimnt HQ.
What you’ll learn
- Pair a DAS device with Paimnt HQ
- Create and organise ads using tags
- Build schedules that automatically switch content throughout the day
- Assign schedules to specific devices across your locations
Understanding DAS
DAS uses three components that work together. Understanding this structure before you start will save time.
How DAS Components Connect
Ads (your content images) → grouped into Schedules (your timing rules) → assigned to Devices (your physical screens)
Example: You create 5 breakfast menu ads → add them to a “Breakfast” schedule (active 6am–11am Mon–Fri) → assign that schedule to your 3 cafe locations. All 3 locations automatically show the breakfast menu during those hours — no manual switching required.
DAS Manager: Three Tabs
| Tab | What you manage | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Ads | Individual ad images, durations, tags, and status | Creating content, organising with tags, managing your ad library |
| Schedules | Time-based rules and which ads are included | Defining meal periods, promotional windows, seasonal campaigns |
| Devices | Physical DAS menu boards and which schedules are assigned | Assigning content to specific locations, viewing device status |
Recommended Setup Order
Follow this sequence to avoid backtracking:
- Set up and pair your DAS device
- Create ad tags (e.g., “Breakfast Menu”, “Lunch Menu”, “Promotions”)
- Create ads and assign tags
- Create schedules for each time block
- Assign schedules to devices
Flexible Workflow
You can start with any tab based on your preference:
- Start with Ads: Create content first, then organise into schedules
- Start with Schedules: Define time blocks first, then add ads to them
- Start with Devices: Select locations first, then create schedules for them
All approaches work — the recommended order above just avoids backtracking.
Step 1 — Set Up Your DAS Device
Complete Device Setup First
You must pair at least one DAS device before using the DAS Manager. Schedules and ads are only useful once a device exists to display them.
In Paimnt HQ
- Navigate to Paimnt HQ > Site > Devices
- Click + Add Device
- Select device type: DAS
- Enter a name (e.g., “Main Cafe Menu Board”) and select its location
- Click Pair — you will receive a pairing code. Keep this ready for the next step.

On Your Menu Board Device
- Install the Paimnt DAS app (your implementation team will provide the download link)
- Open the app and enter your Nexus Name and Nexus Port (provided by your implementation team)
- Enter the pairing code from Paimnt HQ
- Confirm the connection is successful

Pairing Code Tips
- Pairing codes expire quickly — complete the pairing immediately after generating the code
- If pairing fails, generate a new code in Paimnt HQ and try again
- Ensure the menu board device has internet connectivity before attempting to pair
Step 2 — Create Your Ads
Navigate to Paimnt HQ > CFD > DAS > Ads tab
[SCREENSHOT: DAS Manager — Ads tab showing dashboard metrics and grid view]
The Ads tab shows:
- Dashboard metrics — Total Ads, Ads On, Ads Off
- Filter toggle — Filter by status, tags, orientation, duration, and devices
- Grid view — Ad cards with thumbnail, orientation, status, duration, and tags
How to Create a DAS Ad
- Click + Create Ad (top right)
- Enter the Ad Name (e.g., “Lunch Burger Special”)
- Click Upload Ad Image and select your file
- Set the Display Duration — choose from 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 seconds, or enter a custom value
- Add an Ad Tag (optional — see tip below)
- Set the status toggle to On
- Click Create Ad
Using Ad Tags
Tags work like folders for your ads. Create tags such as “Breakfast”, “Lunch”, “Dinner”, and “Promotions” before creating ads — it makes managing a large library much easier.
To create a tag: filter toggle (top right of the Ads tab) > + Add Tag. The tag will then appear in the tag selector when creating or editing ads.
If no tags have been created yet, the tag field shows: “No tags available. Create tags to categorize ads.”
Ad Not Appearing After Creation?
Click the refresh button next to the + Create Ad button. Newly created ads sometimes require a manual refresh to appear in the grid.

How to Edit or Delete a DAS Ad
- Locate the ad in the grid view
- Click the ellipsis menu (⋮) on the bottom right of the ad card
- Select from: Edit, Turn On/Off, or Delete
[SCREENSHOT: Ad ellipsis menu showing Edit, Turn On/Off, Delete options]
Step 3 — Create a Schedule
Navigate to the Schedules tab
[SCREENSHOT: Schedules tab showing split pane — schedule list on left, schedule detail on right]
The Schedules tab shows:
- Dashboard metrics — Total Schedules, Schedules On, Schedules Off
- Filter toggle — Filter schedules by device
- Split pane — schedule list on the left, schedule detail (including ads) on the right
- Right pane controls (top right): Edit (pencil icon), Pause/Play toggle, Delete
How to Create a Schedule
- Click + Create Schedule (top right)
- Enter the Schedule Name (e.g., “Lunch Menu – Weekdays”)
- Configure Time Restriction:
- Off (default): Schedule runs all day on selected days
- Enabled: Set a Start Time and End Time for each day
Check Your Timezone Before Creating Schedules
All schedule times use the timezone set for your site in Till Settings > Settings > Business Details > Timezone. If that timezone is wrong, schedules will activate at the wrong time. Verify this setting before going live.
- Configure Days of Week:
- Default (no days selected): runs every day
- Quick-select: Weekdays or Weekend
- Or select specific days individually
- Configure Date Range:
- Off (default): Schedule runs indefinitely
- Enabled: Set a Start Date and End Date for a limited campaign
- Set the status toggle to On
- Click Create Schedule
[SCREENSHOT: Create Schedule dialog showing time restriction, days of week, and date range options]
How to Edit a Schedule
- Select the schedule from the left pane
- Click the Edit icon (pencil) in the top right of the right pane
- The same configuration dialog from creation appears
- Modify name, time restrictions, days of week, date range, or status
- Click Save
Step 4 — Add Ads to a Schedule
Once a schedule exists, assign ads to it so the schedule knows what content to display.
- From the Schedules tab, select your schedule from the left pane
- In the right pane, click + Create Ad (top right)
- Select the ads you want to include in this schedule
- Save
The right pane will now show thumbnails of all included ads. Click any thumbnail to preview it full-screen.
Step 5 — Assign the Schedule to a Device
Navigate to the Devices tab
[SCREENSHOT: Devices tab showing device list on left and device detail on right]
The Devices tab shows:
- Dashboard metrics — Total DAS Devices, DAS with Schedules, DAS with No Schedules
- Split pane — device list on the left, device details (assigned schedules and ads) on the right
How to Assign a Schedule
- Locate the device in the left list
- Click the Edit icon (pencil) on the device entry
- Under Available Schedules, find your schedule and add it
- Save
Test Before Rolling Out
Assign the schedule to one device first and confirm the correct content is displaying at the right times. Once verified, assign to your remaining devices.
Example: Full Day Menu Board Setup
The Beach Cafe assigns four schedules to the menu board above the counter:
| Schedule | Time | Days | Content |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breakfast Menu | 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM | Mon–Fri | Eggs, toast, coffee specials |
| Lunch Menu | 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM | Mon–Fri | Burgers, salads, lunch deals |
| Promotions | 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Daily | Happy hour, event ads |
| Dinner Menu | 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Daily | Steaks, pasta, wine list |
All four are assigned to the one device. The menu board switches automatically throughout the day — no staff action required.
